About Us

The Association of Securities and Exchange Commission Alumni, Inc. ("ASECA") was founded in 1990 by U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") alumni. ASECA was initially formed to continue the camaraderie that existed among ASECA members when they worked together at the SEC. Today it is a network of nearly 1,000 professional members in the U.S. and abroad.

From its origins as a primarily social institution, ASECA has grown through the years to embrace a number of activities, including the following:

  • The Annual Dinner, held in conjunction with PLI’s "SEC Speaks."
  • The William O. Douglas Award annually recognizes an outstanding SEC alumnus/alumna.
  • Unique scholarship programs with six university partners.
  • SEC Staff Scholarship programs for current SEC support personnel.
  • A youth investment and savings education program for ASECA volunteers.
  • A variety of regional activities specifically geared for SEC alumni.

ASECA is a non-profit charitable organization that fosters the shared history and unique camaraderie between SEC alumni globally. ASECA provides its members with the opportunity to network and share information with fellow SEC alumni, support its robust scholarship program to further the education and growth of industry professionals and recognizes SEC alumni that have contributed to the development of the federal securities laws and/or served the financial and SEC community with distinction through ASECA's annual William O. Douglas award.
