Howard University School of Law

In partnership with Howard University School of Law, ASECA award up to $10,000 each year to a second or third year law student or a combination of two students; (up to $5,000 per student), who demonstrate an interest in employment with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

The scholarship award is based on academic merit, demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, and an interest in SEC employment.  Interest in SEC employment may include but is not limited to, enrollment in securities regulation classes, participation in the SEC summer honors program, employment as an intern at the SEC, or scholarly research in the securities regulation area. 

  1. A personal statement; explaining the applicant's interest in employment at the SEC
  2. Resume highlighting any internships or employment within the securities industry
  3. Headshot Photo
  4. Biographical summary; no more than two paragraphs
  5. A thank you letter drafted to the Association of Securities & Exchange Commission Alumni organization (this will be submitted if you are selected as an awardee)
All documentation must be uploaded as one PDF submission per student. Submissions must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023.  Submissions can be given here: ASECA Scholarship Application.
